DVMA, an 8-year old school, is one of the Toronto District School Board’s elementary academies established in September of 2012.

The school offers an enriched music education to those who have passion for choral and solo singing, musical theatre, and the performing arts.

Music education is offered for Grades 4 to 8 students wherein the students create and make music, have the opportunity to sing and to interact with other students with the same interest to form relationships. DVMA makes sure that students become part of a culture that balances academics with personal leadership, character development, creativity, and innovation. 

Students in DVMA attend a full-day programme with 2 types of classes while in school. First, the academic class that focuses on the Ontario Curriculum and second, the Music, Choir, Dance, and Visual Arts class to develop their creativity and performance skills. 

Additionally, it’s the school’s practice that all and necessary school infos, forms, notices and memos are electronically sent or posted online as part of being an eco-school. King Edward is a K- 8 school offering the regular English program in Grades 1-6 and a quadruple track program in Grades 7-8 namely Regular English, French Immersion, French Extended & Gifted.  

The school goes by the acronym P.R.I.D.E: Play, Respect, Integrity, Diversity & Excellence. 

Here, students are provided with opportunities to learn and grow intellectually, socially and emotionally. King Edward offers stimulating academic programs enriched by co-curricular experiences ranging from athletics to leadership opportunities for diverse learners.

Parks

High Park located at 1873 Bloor St W is the largest public park in Toronto. Hiking trails, sports facilities, lakefront, dog park, a zoo, playgrounds for children, greenhouses, picnic areas are just among the long list of facilities and places that this park has to offer. 

The most famous part in this park is the Hillside Gardens where you can see several waterfalls in the middle, two small bridges and beautiful flowers. Maple leaves are present at the bottom of the garden. The garden ends at the lakefront. Hiking trails are best for those who wish to have a quiet walk while the area around the duck pond is where you’ll find visitors.

On the other hand, High Park has 18 designated picnic sites but BBQs are not allowed. Each picnic area is marked with a numbered wooden pole. Dogs should be on leash except inside the designated dog park. As for the kids, they can play games on the grass or on several playgrounds in the park including the Children’s Adventure Playground on the east side, close to the Parkside Rd. entrance.

High Park attracts many visitors mostly around late April or early May to see the Sakura trees that are still around Hillside Gardens and by the duck pond.

The park is open year-round, 24/7. Entry is free for everyone. Parking at High Park is easy and free since spaces are available alongside the roads. The two main parking lots though are by the restaurant atop Hillside Gardens and by the zoo. No parking between 1am and 6am any day.

Trinity Bellwoods Park is a spacious park with volleyball & tennis courts, an outdoor skating rink & indoor recreation centre. It’s located 790 Queen St W, Toronto. 

The park is a destination for many to picnic, play sports, and enjoy nature. Local residents walk their dogs in this park and bring them in the ravine, the designated leash-free area for your fur-babies.

Trinity Bellwoods Park also has a community and city-owned recreation centre on the west side. It has two indoor pools, gymnasium, fitness centre, indoor walking/running track and multi-purpose rooms. In the park, adjacent to the center, are a volleyball court, large playground, and children’s outdoor wading pool. You can see eight outdoor tennis courts located in the south-east corner and an outdoor ice skating rink at the north-east boundary. Volleyball court is just north of the Recreational Centre. Field spaces for soccer, football, rugby, and softball are available as well. 

Stanley Park, on the other hand, is just a 4-minute drive public park from the area. It has a playground & splash pad, a basketball court and sports field that you can enjoy. You may also bring your fur babies here for a walk.

Playground Condo

York Recreation Centre is located at 115 Black Creek Dr, Toronto, beside the west bank of the Black Creek. It’s a free center with a fully accessible 67,000-sq.-ft facility with a green roof and other City of Toronto Green Standard sustainable features. It’s just a 21-minute drive away from the Playground Condominium in Ordnance St.

Playground Condo 1

Jimmie Simpson Recreation Centre is a large facility that offers a wide-range of activities including swimming, fitness, sports, after-school and preschool programs.

The center is just an 18-minute drive from Playground Condominium. It’s located at 870 Queen St E, adjacent to Jimmie Simpson Park, 2.6 hectare park.

Adjacent to the recreation center is this where Jimmie Simpson Park where Jimmie Simpson Artificial Ice rink, that features a hockey pad, is located. The park also features a ball diamond, multipurpose sports field, two lit tennis courts, basketball courts, a wading pool and a children’s playground. 

It’s open from 12:00PM until 7PM on weekdays and from 2PM to 4PM on weekends.

Just like the York Recreation Centre above, Jimmie Simpson Recreation Centre is also a free centre.

Tourist Attractions

Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada is just a 9-minute drive from Playground Condominium and is located in downtown Toronto, just southeast of the CN Tower, at 288 Bremner Blvd. It is an expansive, modern and public aquarium with many species & habitats on display, plus events & classes. The aquarium is one of three aquariums owned and operated by Ripley Entertainment.

The Aquarium features 20,000 aquatic animals and North America’s longest underwater viewing tunnel with more than 5.7 million liters of water.

Playground Condo 2

If you wish and are ready to get up close and personal with a Stingray, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada is proud to offer you a one of a kind experience to be in Ray Bay with the cownose, southern, spotted eagle rays, and roughtail stingrays. The Stingray Experience is for $99 per person until June 26 and $120.00 per adult and $110.00 per child on Peak season from June 27 to September 7. You’ll experience an approximately 30 minutes in-water time. The entire Stingray Experience, including a behind-the-scenes tour and change time, is 2 hours. 

Outside food and beverages are not permitted onsite. Pets are also not allowed except for service animals.

As for parkings, there is no parking onsite at the aquarium but there is ample parking available nearby.

Playground Condo 3

CN Tower is a landmark with over 553-metre concrete communications and observation tower located in Downtown Toronto. It features a glass floor & a revolving eatery with panoramic views. It’s considered one of the world’s top tourist destinations, and one of Canada’s most celebrated and visited dining and entertainment destinations. 

Its name “CN” originally referred to Canadian National, the railway company that built the tower that was completed in 1976.

Hours of operation varies. The LookOut and Glass Floor is open from 10:00am – 8:00pm while the SkyPod is open from Noon – 8:00pm every weekday and opens earlier at 10:00am on weekends.

The 360 Restaurant, on the other hand, is available from noon- 9:30pm. It features unforgettable food combined with a magnificent revolving view of Toronto. The Marketplace Gift Shop is open from 10:00am – 8:00pm.

PAI is a casual Northern Thai Kitchen that was recognized as one of Toronto’s Best Restaurants several years in a row by NOW Magazine. There is no doubt that the restaurant is rated 4.6 stars by almost 9k reviewers online. Food quality is not the only thing with excellent rating but also the location, the ambiance, and the service.

It is located at 18 Duncan St, Toronto and is just a 10-minute drive from Playground Condominium. 

PAI offers a variety of food from seafood, chicken, curries, organic dishes, soups, salads, vegetarian options to late-night food and dessert. They even serve beers and wine. 

The restaurant also accepts large group reservations and events. 

PAI is open from 12:30 PM to10:00 PM every Mondays to Saturdays and from  4:00 PM to 10:00 PM every Sunday. 

Gusto 101 is an Italian restaurant, located at 101 Portland St, Toronto, a 7-minute drive from Playground Condominium. The place was actually a repurposed garage that has now become a gathering place. Gusto101 serves Southern Italian classics with a global twist in an industrial setting plus wine on tap.

Gusto means tasty in Italian that’s why since 2012, Gusto 101 visioned to deliver soulful, dining experiences to all its customers. 

They serve Salads, Pizzas, steak, angus beef, dessertB, beers, white and red wines. 

Hours of operation starts at 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM every Tuesday to Friday and opens earlier at 2:00PM every Weekend. Gusto 101 is closed every Monday. The restaurant can host a large group by reservation.

Wilbur Mexicana, an 8-minute drive restaurant from Playground Condominium and is located at 552 King St W, Toronto, is a Mexican restaurant with an apothecary-inspired counter that serves Mexican street food. 

Burrito bowl, Baja fish tacos & Mexican street corn are just some of the food they serve. 

The restaurant is also rated 4.6 stars by around 3K reviewers. It operates from 11:30am – 9:30pm, 7 days a week.

Transportation

Playground condominium is located just several minutes drive away from some of the available transit in the city like Go Transit, TTC Subway(TTC light rail) and the Gardiner Expressway. Bike lanes are also available to help you move around the area if you prefer to do it the healthy and practical way.

The bike lane can handle all your trips to the heart of the city’s west end or to the south if you wish to enjoy a relaxing lakeside commute, or if you just want to have a pleasure weekend ride.

A short walk north of the Playground condo will bring you the King St. providing fast access to the downtown core.

Exhibition GO Station is a GO Transit railway station on the Lakeshore West line between Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

The station is just a 10 minute drive from Playground Condominium and is located west of downtown Toronto at Exhibition Place, an area of convention and exhibition venues, sports facilities, and other entertainment attractions, restaurants and nightclubs. It is also on the south side of Liberty Village, a former industrial area which has been redeveloped into a residential neighbourhood with retail and restaurants.
